Anywayz, you can't really define and judge an entire decade. I mean, TEN YEARS does not equal "one thing", decades are pure illusion. That said, there were certainly plenty of cool things to come out of the time period bookended by 1980 and 1989.
Take for instance, these advertisements for Thierry Mugler circa 1980. They're pretty dramatic and eons better than anything put out in the second half of this decade. Perhaps the 80's can be marked by a sense of freedom, for better or for worse. The socioeconomic landscape of the 90's had yet to set in and maybe everyone just went through a case of the crazies. I don't mind.
